2025 Presidential Election: Bishop Michael Bibi Encourages Voter Registration

On May 27, 2024, Bishop Michael Bibi urged Cameroonian citizens to register for the upcoming 2025 presidential election. The Catholic priest made his appeal during a speech in Yaoundé, the capital city.

Importance of Voter Registration

"Exercising our right to vote is essential for shaping the future of our nation," said Bishop Bibi. He emphasized that voter registration allows citizens to have their voices heard and contribute to the democratic process.

The Bishop highlighted the challenges that Cameroon has faced in the past and expressed his belief that participating in the election is a way for citizens to take ownership of their country's future.

Election Details

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (ELECAM), the 2025 presidential election is scheduled to be held in October 2025. Registration for the election is expected to begin in early 2025.

Citizens are encouraged to check with ELECAM for specific registration dates and locations. They will need to provide personal identification documents and proof of residency in Cameroon.

Call for Peaceful Elections

Bishop Bibi also called on Cameroonians to conduct themselves peacefully during the election process. He condemned any acts of violence or intimidation and urged everyone to respect the rule of law.

"Let us all work together to ensure that this election is fair, transparent, and reflects the will of the people," he said.
