Higher Impact Storm Chances In Play Later Today With Flood Watches Re-Issued

A Slight Change In Weather Pattern Brings Back Damaging Wind/Hail

Timing And Impacts Of Potential Storms

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage through the day today, mainly after 3 PM. Some of these storms could produce damaging winds and hail, along with heavy rain. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5) for severe weather, meaning scattered severe storms are possible. The main threats will be damaging wind gusts and large hail up to the size of golf balls.

The best chance for severe weather will be from 5 PM to 10 PM. The storms will move from west to east across the area. Once storms develop, they will be capable of producing flash flooding due to the heavy rain. Please be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings, such as a weather radio or mobile app.

Flood Watches Re-Issued

The National Weather Service has re-issued Flood Watches for our area due to the potential for heavy rain with these storms. The Flood Watch will be in effect from 6 PM this evening through 6 PM Saturday evening. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible, with locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to flooding of low-lying areas, such as roads, underpasses, and creeks. Please do not drive through flooded areas.

Stay tuned to the latest forecasts for updates on this developing situation.
